The Department of Extension studies/ Open, Distance and Flexible Learning (ODFL) was created in September, 2014. The main mandate of the department is to provide Consultancy in the different areas that the College is specialized in, promote and manage extension studies in the College, Coordinate research and offer distance learning programmes in a number of courses.
The Department has since inception endeavored to offer market responsive courses through Consultancy, Short Courses, Distance learning programmes and Extension studies. The College through this department also endeavours to solve problems in society and generate knowledge through the promotion of both basic and applied research.
For those within Lusaka, the department offers Extension studies in almost all the programmes the college has.
In order, to further meet the needs of the market, the department offers week end short intensive courses to meet the needs of those who may be engaged and busy during the week. We also offer tailor made consultancy and Short courses in a variety of specializations.

The department offers a number of short courses all year round, however, the standard sessions are in April, August and December. Short courses may also be offered outside the mentioned session on demand by the client. Find attached a list of short courses.
The department has four units: Distance Learning unit, Extension Studies unit, Short courses, Research and Consultancy unit and Records and Assessments unit. Each unit is headed by a coordinator reporting to the Head of Section who reports to the Head of Department who in turn reports to the Vice Principal.
